Explore answers to your key questions about roads policing.

What does a typical day look like for a UK Roads Policing Officer?

There is no simple answer to this! But typically I will be briefed at the start of the shift, patrolling or responding to incidents would usually follow throughout most of the shift before returning to the station and carrying out admin duties for that day. I cover a little bit more on this in my first blog.

What types of vehicles do you usually stop?

We focus on vehicles that pose a risk to others on the roads, whether this is due to the vehicle’s condition, the manner of driving, or whether it’s been involved in criminality. There are a lot of factors but sometimes, there is nothing more to it other than a routine vehicle stop.

Which Police Force do you work for?

I am currently serving as a Police Officer within the North West of England, unfortunately I cannot be specific as I will be providing true and accurate stories/reflections. These of course are my own and have no reflection of the Police and will not be affiliated with any force or constabulary.

Can I get in touch with you to answer a specific question or share an encounter of mine?

Yes of course, click on to my contact page and send me a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
